Hi, I'm Jesse, looking for a Summer 2024 Quality Assurance Intern.
Who Am I?
I am very passionate about the field of Nondestructive Testing. My experiences have spanned many industries and I have been fortunate to have experiences in almost all methods of testing. I enjoy finding solutions to improve productivity and repeatability of inspections.
What Do We Do?
Business Unit: Non-Destructive Testing/Quality Assurance
Carpenter NDT provides the final inspection on all forged billets before they go to the customers. Integrity, accountability, and honesty are key.
Ongoing Projects
The NDT team utilizes several methods of UT inspections. We are also developing techniques in Radiography (RT), and Eddy Current (ET). Recently, we built our own 3 axis UT immersion tank to be able to calibrate and validate our UT transducers. We need assistance with SOP, standard work development, and training programs for these added capabilities.
Your Role as an Intern
You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:
  • Complete qualification for NDT transducer tank,
  • Develop in-house calibration procedures for instrumentation.
  • Develop a cohesive testing/auditing system for NDT technicians

What Do We Require?
You must be:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Engineering, Computer Science, Ergonomics or Logistics
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Athens, AL location.
  • Candidates should have experience with 3-D Modeling
  • US Citizen or US Green Card Holder.

Pay Range
Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $18.50-$23.50 per hour.
Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)
Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Athens, AL area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Athens, AL area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
