If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the Quality Assuranceand Continuous Quality Improvement Administratorposition in the Office of Health Professions (OHP).
As the Quality Assuranceand Continuous Quality Improvement Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the Quality Assurance and Continuous improvement work for OHP, which includes health profession programs and health professions credentialing. You will collaborate with epidemiologists across Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA) to design and implement customized measures that align with meaningful performance indicators and define success for the programs and credentialing units within the office.
The Office of Health Professions (OHP) is responsible for the regulation and support of the health professions (including the regulatory boards, commissions and committees), impaired practitioners, medical marijuana and prescription monitoring program. This position reports to the Office Director to carry out the work of a variety of boards, commissions, and or committees.

We work closely with advisory groups, boards, and three partner commissions (Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission, Washington State Board of Nursing & Washington Medical Commission) Each year we review more than 14,500 complaints and inspect thousands of facilities.
Your Role:
You will develop and monitor leading and lagging indicators, as well as individual and team level scorecards, to measure the quantity and quality of work performed in various categories. You will use data-driven methods to identify problem areas, track improvements over time, and develop corrective action plans. Additionally, you will regulate the competency and quality of all health professions to promote patient safety and access to care by providing continuous improvement efforts across OHP.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance andQuality Improvement Efforts:
Serves as a primary resource in the Department of Health regarding Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance for Health Professions, the QA/CQI Administrator designs, develop, implements and maintains a Quality Assurance plan that improves the health profession program and credentialing outcomes. This position is accountable for designing, developing and delivering:
  • Onboarding and training for credentialing functions to ensure effective and efficient processing of assigned work;
  • Continuing education and skills training for existing staff to keep current with technology, rule and process changes;
  • And Lean process improvement efforts, outcomes, results, outputs and processes for OHP.

Collaboration:
Through close and effective working relationships, this position manages collaboration with Executive Directors and program staff to develop and implement rules to regulate professions and programs for appropriate boards, commissions and/or the secretary.
Policy Review and Enhancement:
This position is the subject matter expert regarding the performance of OHP's 86 heath profession. They will determine the needs of Quality Improvement for each health profession. They establish the standards of quality for the office in the form of measurable performance indicators/key results. This work provides the data to influence policy and is provided to the legislature and community partners upon request.

This full-time, permanent WMS 2 position is stationed out of the Tumwater duty station. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. Required in-office work, onsite work at events, and in-state and out-of-state travel are infrequent and would be scheduled in advance.

The Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Option 1:
  • 8 or more years of experience in the following areas:
    1. Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement
    2. Supporting the work of regulatory boards or commissions
    3. Leading performance improvement activities, resulting in improved services, efficiency, or cost savings
    4. Providing technical assistance on compliance with health care facilities or practitioners regulation
    5. Directing the development of necessary legislation, budgets, and application of resources
    6. Effectively leading and directing large groups of managers and professionals
    7. Applying knowledge of state health profession regulatory framework, the legislative process, national and state trends in health care

OR:
Option 2:
  • A bachelor's degree* or higher AND
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the following areas:
    1. Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement
    2. Leading performance improvement activities, resulting in improved services, efficiency, or cost savings
    3. Providing technical assistance on compliance with health care facilities or practitioners regulation
    4. Directing the development of necessary legislation, budgets, and application of resources
    5. Effectively leading and directing large groups of managers and professionals
    6. Applying knowledge of state health profession regulatory framework, the legislative process, national and state trends in health care

AND
  • Demonstrated expertise in verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship-building, facilitation and negotiation skills.
