SUMMARY Under limited supervision, administers quality systems activities for specific product lines by performing the following duties personally or through others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support the manufacturing lines at all times.
- Assist other Quality Systems department personnel by covering other specific product lines when necessary.
- Monitors quality criteria for specific product lines.
- May recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Conducts outside supplier receiving and finished goods audits to verify that incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods meet quality criteria.
- Participates in Cross-Functional Work Team meetings as needed with other personnel to discuss quality issues on assigned production lines.
- Provides occasional training to production workers to help identify defective raw materials and finished goods.
- Conducts work-in-process quality audits and documents results.
- Presents quality charts and data at startup meetings.
- Develops and makes visual displays depicting good and bad parts, e.g. acceptable and unacceptable glass.
- Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant or field locations to evaluate reliability factors such as numbers and causes of unit failures.
- Quarantines and oversees disposition of non-compliant material.
- Conduct temper break test and lami pummel and bake tests on a regular basis.
- Monitor accumulation of scrap material on an on-going basis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
- Able to coordinate multiple departments for a single outcome
- Familiar with the use of standard measuring equipment.
- Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
- Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
- Must be able to move throughout plant and receiving dock throughout day
- Must be able visually examine raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods
- Work in smoke-free environment – including air-conditioned office, unclimatized plant, and loading dock
- Standing approximately 90 % of the time up to 10 hours a day
- Frequent walking throughout glass facilities
- Frequent bending/stooping/squatting
- Occasionally reaching overhead when handling glass
- Frequent reaching away from body when pushing/pulling the harp carts and a-frames
- Occasionally pushing with minimal or maximum force to maneuver the glass down the production line on rollers
- Occasionally lifting up to 90 lbs
- Frequent repetitive hand/foot/head/neck movements required
