Job Description
Basic Purpose: Provides support to production department in meeting the products’ quality requirements. Facilitates the implementation of the quality program. Responsible for sampling, analysis of raw and packaging materials, intermediate and finished products and the associated recordkeeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Samples, inspects, and provides disposition for incoming packaging materials. Performs raw materials, intermediate, and finished goods sampling and analysis according to standard analytical procedures and customer specifications.
· Sets up production lines for inspection. Monitors weights, and packaging appearance on packaging line.
· Performs all necessary analyses, Sets up and operates lab instruments. Perform routine instrument maintenance and calibration per schedule.
· Keeps accurate records of all testing/inspection results as required.
· Investigates OOS results and takes corrective actions following standard procedures.
· Works with production personnel to ensure timely resolution on questions related to product quality.
· Trains packaging technicians on line inspections.
· Preparation, documentation and maintenance of test solutions and standards.
· Assists in special projects such as plant trial runs and capability studies.
· Audit and maintain Quality and Production documentation /records, electronic and hard copy, as needed.
· Perform Safety/Housekeeping inspections in the laboratory.
· Ensures that GMP, Quality, Health and Safety are considered in all aspects of the role.
· Maintains clean and orderly work environment. Light housekeeping.
· Able to prioritize tasks in a fast moving production environment.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by QA/QC Supervisor or Manager.
Qualification / Knowledge and Skills:
· Education/Training/Work Experience:
High school diploma with chemistry classes minimum with up to 5 years of relevant experience in a high-speed consumer packaging manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or equivalent and two years of related experience preferred.
· Computer literate – must be familiar with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
· Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to calculate, analyze, and apply all basic math concepts. Excellent time management, problem solving, and organization skills. Team player.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
General chemical lab and manufacturing environment that includes standing, walking, and use of hands constantly. Occasional sitting, talking, and hearing. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally. Requires good vision close and distance, depth and color. Candidate will be required to pass a color vision test. Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Some exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. General manufacturing environment - exposed to moderate noise and airborne dust.
Monday thru Thursday 5AM to 3:30PM with possible overtime
Pay Range $20-24 per hour
