QC Inspector NSW 2nd Shift

Inspects, audits and reports on finished assembled products using measuring equipment and various visual techniques to ensure conformance to the organization or customer quality standards and support production area inspection functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Approve or reject in-process or finished products by performing inspection per the inspection plans or appropriate procedure and recording the findings on the designated quality reports as a result of visual and measurement checks.
• Applies appropriate tags and labels to materials to demonstrate material status and completes disposition information.
• Reject and return non-conforming materials by communicating the required adjustments to production team members and management for re-work and confirm rework was done in accordance with standards.
• Performs data entry into the quality database.
• Maintains measuring equipment in good working condition and calls for necessary repairs and calibration as required.
• Perform first piece and last piece inspections.
• Assist in process capability studies.
• Complete Defective Material Reports (DMR’s) and Material Status Reports for non-conforming materials at the request of production management for vendor supplied material rejections.
• Post and provide information and support to production personnel through Quality Alerts.
• Participates in corrective action activities.
• Evaluate and support activities involving the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process if assigned.
• Utilize statistical methods during quality data collection as required.
• Comply with safety regulations and personnel policy.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

•  High school graduate or equivalent required.
•  A minimum of six (6) months experience in manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to use a tape measure, digital measuring equipment, calipers (dial and digital), angle measuring tools, inspection templates, go/no go gages and lighted inspection equipment.
• Interpret technical documentation such as specifications, drawings, sketches and work instructions
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills
• Attention to detail
• Excellent judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Team player
• Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing

Training Requirements

• How to read and care for measuring equipment.
• Identify defects (non-conformances).
• Why defects (non-conformances) occur.
• How to determine sample sizes.
• What records to keep and why.
• Product identification.
• Quality Department procedures.
