GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Quality Inspector – Gummy is responsible for ensuring all components, bulk and other items used to manufacture or package dietary supplement gummies comply with the specifications established by MeriCal and current Good Manufacturing Practices [GMP]. The Quality Inspector is responsible for processing and distributing the required production records, release in process quality monitoring inspections, perform QA material review by conducting objective measurements & subjective analysis of gummy products. The Quality Inspector will work closely with receiving, production, packaging and customer service to ensure all production materials are inspected, approved and authorizes product released prior to Quality release. The Quality Inspector reports directly to the Quality supervisor.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices [21 CFR Part 111] are adhered throughout the facility.

• Performing in line inspections within manufacturing and packaging areas towards established customer specifications

• Communicating and alerting management of any unusual occurrence and any pertinent issues that affects production & packaging.

• Conduct bulk and final product acceptable quality limit [AQL] inspections in line per established SOPs.

• Assist in writing, editing and updating company policies & SOP

• Responsible for performing in process testing [ATP, pH, Water Activity, Brix etc.] and product monitoring

• Responsible for locating all the respective production records for lots to be sampled

• Responsible for sampling the product components following MeriCal’s SOP for “proper Sampling Technique”

• Responsible for generating release documentation and effectively communicating product status to operations.

• Assist with QA Hold and product investigations.

• Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to food safety policies and all government food safety, sanitation and quality regulations.

• Responsible to perform additional miscellaneous duties as assigned


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Prior experience working in Quality environment for dietary supplement [preferred] and / or food & beverage manufacturing

• Must be familiar with cGMP FDA requirements and regulations as they pertain to Quality in a dietary supplement manufacturing & packaging environment CFR 111 and 211.

• Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and other software necessary to work in the Quality Assurance Department.

• Attention to detail and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate in English.

• Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish is a plus.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred:

• HACCP Certification

• Food Safety Training
