QA Lab Technician

  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production turning process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluate production log sheets for potential quality abnormalities. Take appropriate actions when abnormalities/ customer risk appears.
  • Collects reject summary check sheets and input data to track trends.
  • Process audit consisting of quality documentation.
  • Abnormality evaluation of nonconforming product to include measuring and results notification to QE using line gages and Metrology Lab equipment.
  • Audit quality hold area to assist QE with evaluation and disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Evaluate scrap tickets and scrap report to identify trends, root-cause, and countermeasure.
  • Scrap data analysis and product audit of manufacturing lines with higher customer flow out based on GA feedback.
  • Assist with new program introduction to include creation and control of autochecker masters and samples.
  • Assist manufacturing leadership with creation of offline sort gages as required.
  • Evaluate and correct masters, samples and manual gages for identification and condition.
  • Confirm previous root cause and countermeasures are still effective.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data and enters data into computer for analysis.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Understands the function and reliability of automatic and manual quality measuring equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical Aptitude
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to read and understand various component and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of metric system
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, etc.)

Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree (AA) from a Two-Year College or University; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • The performance of this position mainly requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection and steel toe shoes.

  • Some work is performed in an office setting with time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
