Qualifications:

1. Acceptable attendance required. (Written warning or probation will be an automatic disqualifier. Attendance may be reviewed after interviewing for position).
2. Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
3. High School diploma or equivalent required.
4. One year lab experience and/or high school chemistry preferred. Started college level Chemistry course required during the first year (completion to move to Grade 8).
5. Experience with MS Word and Excel required. SAP experience preferred.
6. Ability to read reports, paperwork with small print, copy sequences onto paper, and key information into computer systems required.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to work well and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, as well as internal and external customers, required.
8. Must be able to distinguish levels of color, flavor, and aroma to ensure conformance to specifications, required.
9. Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt to an environment with multiple tasks and changing priorities, required.
10. Ability to work overtime on short notice with flexibility in start times and work days, required.
11. Ability to adjust schedule to accomplish training on multiple shifts.
12. Ability to lift 10 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally, required.

Description of Position:

• Results ownership: support plant and department OGSM's and targets
• Actively participate in CI initiative
• Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain lab equipment, such as refractometer, automatic titrator, pH meter, scales, CEM, FAS 900, colorimeter, viscometer, bostwick, and other equipment
• Record test data on standardized forms, lab computer database, and in SAP
• Review records for accuracy, completion, and corrective actions.
• As a member of the Quality Department, lead by example in Quality programs, such as GMPs, housekeeping, HACCP, and traceability
• Use data to identify trends, out of control conditions, and non-conformance to specifications. Provides information and works with the appropriate personnel to correct processes.
• Makes product adjustments needed to correct out of specification product
• Controls non-conforming product through the use of Quality Notifications - including product segregation, sampling, rework, destruction, and labeling.
• Use computer for data entry and analysis.
• Maintain work and storage areas in clean and orderly fashion.
• Daily communication with all team members and management through the use of shift meetings, email, and other written and verbal methods
• Actively promote safety and identify unsafe actions and conditions through the use of a principle-based safety approach
• Work with teams to identify process issues and improvement opportunities
• Other duties as assigned.
