The Purchasing Supervisor will report to the Materials Manager serving as the principle owner responsible for driving/implementing purchasing process improvements to support business goals with emphasis on supplier management, supplier improvement, deflation, inventory management, and continuity of supply to support the manufacturing floor. The primary focus of this position is to manage all commercial and supplier-related activities of the purchasing function for the assigned site/business unit and to serve as the purchasing representative supporting local management. We ask that you have excellent project management skills to work cohesively with engineering, product development, marketing, manufacturing and material planning to ensure the success of all business initiatives.
You Will:
  • Lead and develop the local purchasing team, and creating & implementing site KPIs aligned with corporate KPIs
  • Accountable for local purchased part-related metrics such as PPV, OTIF and material availability
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issue purchase orders following company policy and negotiated and/or standard terms and conditions
  • Assist with make versus buy analyses and recommendations to meet corporate & site objectives
  • Work with Watt Sourcing to develop RFQ/RFP and negotiate the best price, payment terms, quality levels, and delivery terms for purchased products in compliance with corporate objectives
  • Lead and support on-site supplier assessment/certification audits
  • Facilitate supplier cost modeling, supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, long-term contract establishment with focus on continued quality, delivery and productivity improvements that lead to better service and cost reductions
  • Acquire and maintain solid and current knowledge of commodity & spend category trends, including new technology and manufacturing processes, industry trends, commodity cost drivers, global pricing, and material lead times
  • Develop and drive acceptance of preferred suppliers with SPMs, and coordinate regular supplier technology roadmap reviews
  • Work with engineering and site operations to support testing and approval of new product & cost reduction initiatives
  • Facilitate and evaluate Manufacturing Alerts and Engineering Change Notifications to minimize materials obsolescence
  • Facilitate and drive VAVE and continuous improvement events targeting purchased items
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable department to ensure accurate payment of invoices, and resolve discrepant invoices to ensure a smooth payment process with suppliers.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain; MBA and/or APICS/ISM certifications highly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain operations (industrial/commercial) with a strong understanding, credibility, and comfort to work with frontline operations management and cross-divisional teams.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a buyer/planner role.
  • History of managing direct spend and establishing measurable improvements in Year-over-year
  • Proven success within a manufacturing organization embracing a Lean/Six Sigma transformation
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems as related to purchasing
  • Sourcing contract administration and negotiation experience highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting operations producing highly engineered mechanical product lines
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job responsibilities outside the typical office setting.
