We are looking for a skilled Purchasing Agent to assist in the buying of merchandise, gifts, and other items necessary for our business. You have the means and opportunity to raise our profits by helping the team make the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a commercial mindset. You should know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers. Your excellent communication skills will help you negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships. The goal is to help assist the owners and buyers to make efficient purchases and control the inventory in order to steer the business towards ultimate success.
Responsibilities
- Assist with existing and help develop new profitable purchasing strategies
- Monitor current and seasonal inventory levels for all supplies and merchandise
- Assist with ordering/re-ordering of supplies and merchandise
- Analyze all purchases and check for accuracy
- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
- Monitor incoming shipments for quality control
- Keep organized files for all vendors and all purchases
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and best results for company
- Type up and monitor any and all claims and follow up to verify credit was received
- Keep detailed logs and notes of all claims
- Assist buyers with planning for buying trips 2-3 times per year
- Assist buyers with processing all orders after buying trips
- Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.)
- Enter all seasonal purchases into inventory system
- Prepare spreadsheets prior to all end of season inventories
- Ensure that all 3 stores complete all seasonal and annual inventories
- Assist in analyzing inventories both seasonally and annually
Requirements
- A willing and positive attitude
- Proven experience as a purchasing agent or administrative assistant or another relevant role
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
- Working knowledge of G-Mail, Google Docs and Google Sheets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong analytical mindset
- Outstanding organizational skills
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
