Job Title:Purchasing Coordinator

Reports To:Director of Purchasing

Wage Plan/Exemption:Non-Exempt


Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the procurement of a limited scope of goods in support of 3D Corporate Solutions’ business divisions. Responsibilities include aspects of vendor qualification, requests for quotation and purchase to payment.

Being the Purchasing Coordinator involves responsibility for overseeing a moderate to large scale purchasing program for a wide variety of materials, supplies and equipment. A team member in this class is responsible for preparing specifications and approving or recommending purchases.

The individual must exercise careful judgment in the work since erroneous decisions may result in loss of large sums of money. The ability to function independently and keep track of multiple tasks at once is paramount to the success of this position. Other tasks of this position include; developing, building, managing, negotiating and executing the purchasing of all raw materials, goods, equipment and services with vendors in support of the Poultry Platform.

Organize office operations and procedures, such as word processing, and preparation of accounts receivables, flow of correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, and other clerical services. The work is performed under general supervision with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for coordinating purchase of goods.
  • Coordinates with end user to verify requirements.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
  • Edits purchase requests and prepares purchase orders.
  • Determines lowest total cost solutions.
  • Develops, maintains and manages purchase orders for goods in support of the division and location.
  • Performs expediting as required to assure purchase order deliver schedule is met and suppliers are meeting contractual criteria.
  • Manages supplier performance for purchased products ensuring all aspects of the purchase to payment process are maintained in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Provides support to the supplier and audit processes for selected suppliers and contractors.
  • Keeps up-to-date of relevant knowledge of supply base to assure market competitiveness.
  • Assists in sourcing vendors and negotiating prices and prepares purchase recommendation for approval through the Purchasing Manager or VP of the Poultry platform.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (monthly expense reconciliation, assisting Director of Operations and all departments with administrative duties)
  • Provides general clerical support for the platforms.
  • Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail, shipping and receiving.
  • Travel requirement 25% - 50%

Education / Experience

  • General understanding of supply chain & purchasing, materials ordering & receiving, commodity knowledge, information systems/commerce, and procure to specification
  • 1+ years previous planning, purchasing, or logistics experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or accounting is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel
  • Experience with accounting software platforms, preferably Sage
