Job Overview:
As a Purchaser, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company maintains optimal inventory levels by re-ordering and managing stock efficiently. Your responsibilities will include communicating with Chinese suppliers to negotiate pricing, booking containers with freight forwarders, coordinating shipment contents based on purchase orders, and optimizing container consolidation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels and initiate re-orders to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
- Implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and minimize carrying costs.
- Supplier Communication:
- Liaise with Chinese suppliers to negotiate pricing and ensure favorable terms.
- Maintain clear and effective communication channels to address any issues promptly.
- Container Booking:
- Collaborate with freight forwarders to book containers for shipments.
- Prioritize obtaining favorable Estimated Time of Departures (ETDs) to meet our operational needs.
- Shipment Coordination:
- Coordinate with suppliers to determine the contents of each shipment based on purchase orders.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods in accordance with our requirements.
- Container Consolidation:
- Optimize container space by consolidating shipments when feasible.
- Strategize to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness in container utilization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with international logistics processes and terminology.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, particularly in dealing with Chinese suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for inventory management and communication.
