Spherion is seeking a long term, temporary full-time Purchasing Clerk for the Lafayette area.
Shift: Monday-Friday; 8a-5p
Hourly Pay Rate: $17
Responsibilities:
Collects, organizes, and verifies accuracy of data before it is entered.
Extracts alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from original paper documents and enters data into a computer following a specified format. ...

Compares data entered into computer with data listed on the original document;
Conducts spot checks to verify that data is correctly entered; Uses verification format already built into computer program to detect data entry errors.
Deletes incorrect information, and types in correct information.
Maintains record of work completed.
Provides backup to related positions.
Corresponds with vendors/suppliers concerning pricing, delivery status, and general accuracy of documents and goods.
Composes, types, and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
Serve as liaison between department head, operations and shop.
Other duties as assigned by Department Manager.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to enter data accurately.
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Outlook, MS Word and Excel
High school diploma or equivalent
