We are expanding at warp speed and are adding to our team – from our sales office and shop floor locations to our remote online team members. We are a diverse, creative, and passionate crew who is always looking to discover and implement fresh, innovative ideas and make some pretty amazing things.
JOB SUMMARY
Uses independent judgment to purchase materials needed to construct dimensional signs and fabrications. Selects vendors, places order, and acts as runner to pick up orders or arranges delivery. Maintains materials purchased files and enters materials in automated job costing system.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reviews work order backlog and develops list of materials needed to build graphics. Consolidates materials by type and vendor.
• Selects vendor based on best price. Calls in orders for delivery or pick-up. Issue purchase order numbers and records in log. Logs purchased materials.
• Meets with potential vendors to review merchandise. Researches new vendors/suppliers through catalog library as needed. Provides credit documentation as required.
• Acts as runner to pick up materials ordered from local vendors. May travel outside local area to retrieve or deliver priority materials.
• Matches materials received against orders. Enters purchases into Material Requirements Form, staples packing list, and files. Enters materials received into automated job costing system (Job Shop).
• Orders and schedules repairs to facility or equipment needed through external providers. Ensures preventative maintenance on company vehicles. Participates in remodeling layout.
• Enters all MSDS sheets on ordered products into the on-line filing system.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Requires the ability to read and interpret technical work orders and intermediate math skills. Includes general business and purchasing terminology. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma including general business classes.
• Requires 0-2 years of purchasing related experience. Previous sign industry experience preferred.
• Overview knowledge of Excel and email preferred.
• Keyboarding and 10-key skills preferred.
• Overview knowledge of automated job costing systems preferred.
• Up to 50% local area travel; up to 1% out-of-area travel
Preferred Skills
• Valid driver’s license.
• Analytical skills to consolidate materials needed and select best vendor.
• Interpersonal skills needed to establish rapport and maintain a variety of external vendor relationships.
• Good organizational skills to meet production material deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions. Warehouse and plant with exposure to dust, noise and fumes. Walking and standing 100% on concrete flooring.
• Position requires grasping and utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination and the utilization of color vision
• Lift up to 50 lbs; lift up to 100 lbs with assistance occasionally.
• Ability to use computer and calculator
• Ability to sit (5%), stand (55%), walk (20%), kneel/squat (10%) and bend (10%) for eight hours.
