Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing seeks a creative & enthusiastic Publicist/Senior Publicist to create and execute publicity campaigns for a wide variety of children’s and YA releases.

The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing PR campaigns, an established network of national broadcast, print and online media contacts, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Candidates should possess strong internal and external communication skills, be adept in time management, and the ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities include:

· Write press materials and pitch/secure media coverage (broadcast, print, online), including cover reveals & book announcements, feature interviews, reviews & round-ups in national and local media

· Plan and execute author appearances including multi-city book tours, virtual appearances, local appearances, school visits, and special events

· Arrange travel for authors/illustrators and create tour schedules

· Meet with national media to pitch seasonal lists

· Travel selectively with authors for book tours and festivals/conferences

· Present campaign plans and results in internal sales meetings

Specific responsibilities include:

· 3+ years or prior book publicity experience at a major children’s publishing house

· Established relationships with media contacts who cover books and book publishing

· Effective communication skills (oral & written) for interactions with media, authors and internal departments

· Experience with securing national media interviews and conducting multi-city national tours

· Proven ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and juggling multiple priorities

· Ability to work well independently as well as in collaborative team environments

· Self-motivated, persistent, and goal-oriented individual

· Effective organizational and project management skills

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable.
