The Public Safety Assistant Manager is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day Public Safety operations for McCormick Place.

 

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $68,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible Convention Center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.


  • Manage all VIP and high-profile guests to include planning arrival and departures and working directly with FBI, CPD, Canine, SWAT, Secret Service and CIA.
  • Reviews and assesses incident reports and documentation.
  • Manages and oversees security investigations.
  • Gathers data and prepares statistical information for departmental use and administrative review.
  • Administers performance appraisals, implements employee improvement plans, resolves employee infractions of rules and regulations.
  • Have intimate knowledge of the layout of the premises and full awareness of the issues, challenges, and requirements faced by our customers and guests.
  • Reviews security posts and develops appropriate work instructions.
  • Works closely with parking and marshalling managers to ensure compliance with program.
  • Develop training pertinent to officer’s job functions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college in business, law enforcement or related field (or the equivalent amount of work-related experience).
  • 2-4 experience in a management role in the Public Safety field. Union experiences preferred.
  • Must have experience on a campus type atmosphere where multiple buildings are connected.
  • Proven ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as skills in labor and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and lead a diverse workforce.
  • Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.
