Communications Section
- Develop communications designed to achieve specific public affairs and agency goals and promote awareness and acceptance of agency programs among employees and external interested parties.
- Work with agency staff and managers, graphic artists, photographers, videographers and the media.
- Produce or help oversee the production of key messages, talking points, news releases, presentations, webinars, videos, newsletters, fact sheets, podcasts, blog posts and other forms of communications.
- Develop, implement and lead strategic communications and public affairs plans and programs.
- Influence policy development and its implementation strategy.
- Advise and guide agency management and staff regarding agency issues and presentations to news media, the transportation commission, advisory committees, other agency commissions and elected officials.
- Act as an agency spokesperson to regional, statewide and national media.
- Proactively suggest news ideas and stories to media contacts.
- Assist with regional communications issues as well as other programs.
- Work in an office environment with hybrid work options available and required travel, sometimes working in inclement weather and handling assignments in the evenings and early mornings.

- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of communications tools.
- Knowledge of strategic communications and effective communications planning.
- Knowledge of principles of public relations.
