Westat's 11-week summer internship experiences will be hosted virtually, or on-site at our U.S. office-based locations. Our interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The program will begin on Monday, June 3, 2024, and end by August 16, 2024. During the summer internship program, you will be assigned a project deliverable and will present during the final week of the program. You will also attend educational programs and networking events.
This position will be remote and U.S. based. The pay rate for this role is $25/hr.
The Public Health - Community Engaged Research interns will assist in building and maintaining a community-engaged organizational infrastructure by supporting, mobilizing communities and partnerships to improve health. In this role you will provide input on innovative Public Health functions through ongoing evaluation, research, and continuous quality improvement.

Job Responsibilities:
- Create infrastructure for communicating with CBOs and co-develop a quarterly meeting with CBOs. This will include developing a pre and post survey of engagement and follow up with participants.
- Create and complete a resource repository. Develop and administer training for staff on how to utilize the repository including pre and post assessment, training resources.
- Assist with the development of Training Modules, to educate and empower CBOs on the importance of collaborative community-engagement.
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health program.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection methods (to include analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming, and software, as appropriate).
- Demonstrated awareness of cultural values and practices to the design, implementation, or critique of Public Health policies or programs.
- Proven experience via coursework or on-the-job integrating perspectives from other sectors and/or professions to promote and advance population health through community-engagement.
- Ability to develop high quality written products.
- Experience with public community-engagement activities.
