Description

Job Summary:

The Recovery/Reentry Program Nurse is a detail-oriented individual with leadership skills and a passion for helping others recover from substance use disorder(s). This position, often known as a residential nurse or sober living nurse, plays a crucial role in supporting individuals recovering from substance abuse or addiction who live in the Goodwill Recovery residences (currently Wolf's Place and Fae's Place). This position is responsible for all the medical support and medicine distribution of house residents.  This position plays a crucial role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery, providing them with the care, support, and guidance they need to maintain their sobriety and lead healthy lives.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provide basic medical care, including monitoring and administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and addressing any medical emergencies that may arise.
  • Monitor residents' overall health and well-being, including assessing symptoms of withdrawal and other health issues.
  • Offer emotional support and counseling to residents, helping them cope with the challenges of recovery.
  • Provide education on health-related topics, including substance abuse prevention, nutrition, and general wellness.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, therapists, and counselors, to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each resident.
  • Advocate for residents' health and well-being, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
  • Be on call for crises or emergencies, such as relapses or medical emergencies, to ensure residents' safety.
  • Responsible for Recovery Residence program development including the development of relationships with community organizations that will bring services into the facility for residents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral partners, including completion of community detention documents for court-ordered residents.
  • Participate in the accreditation process to establish a certified recovery program.
  • Completion of programmatic documentation in accordance with state accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain resident's confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws (42 CFR and HIPAA).

Education and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a valid nursing license.
  • Experience in psychiatric nursing, substance abuse treatment, or a related field is often preferred.
  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations.
