We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative person to work part time at the Atlantic Cape
Community College libraries at Mays Landing and/or Atlantic City campuses for the
upcoming spring 2024 semester. The successful candidate will work alongside the
library and academic support staff to provide excellent service to Atlantic Cape students
and faculty. Hours are available weekdays and Saturdays.
- Carry out library "front desk" functions such as patron registration, inter-library loans, holds, managing reserves and shelving.
- Assist students and staff with locating print materials, utilizing electronic library resources and online research databases, navigating online courses, and using web-based course resources and applications.
- Promote and provide information about tutoring and other support services.
- Assist library patrons in person, by email and telephone.
- Create documents, spreadsheets and forms, record and enter data in spreadsheets or databases.
- Maintaining an organized and neat work area, and light housekeeping duties are also required.
- This position is for people with a desire to work in a dynamic and diverse academic environment.
- Working effectively with people of widely varying skills and abilities is necessary, as is a commitment to student service.
- Applicants must have an enthusiasm for education and a continual desire to seek out information, learn new skills and solve problems. Attentiveness to detail, diligence in recording and reporting information, excellent communication and cooperation with coworkers and supervisors is essential!
- Basic knowledge of and comfort with technology is required. This includes working with computer hardware, printers, scanners, copiers and projectors as well as popularly used programs and applications such as Microsoft Office, Google products and online meeting platforms.
Physical requirements:
- Include the ability to lift and move books and boxes
- Spend time standing and walking throughout the library.
Typical Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- An associate degree or higher is preferred.
Experience:
- Working in a library, school or other learning environment is a plus, as are foreign language skills.
Note: This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location. Employment Type: Part-Time
