Job Description
General Description:
To provide psychological assessment and treatment services to children with developmental
disabilities, psychological disorder(s), and/or behavioral problems and their families. Areas of
treatment may include assessment, traditional psychological services, group therapy (parent
training, social skills, etc.) and feeding therapy. BCBA supervised work experience is available
upon request.
Core Responsibilities
Case Management
• Conducts assessment and treatment services in a professional and timely manner
• Maintains clear documentation for client contact
• Incorporates feedback from families into assessment and treatment planning
• Initiates and maintains good rapport with families and keeps them informed of case
progress and development, and includes them in decision making at appropriate time
• Demonstrates sensitivity to parent's concerns
• Identify client needs and recognize when crisis intervention is required
Performance Management
• Expectations and progress are clear and well communicated
• Stay abreast of latest research and issues related to best practices of psychological
assessment and treatment of children, particularly children with developmental
disabilities, psychological disorder(s), and behavior problems
• Work collaboratively with all professionals and individuals relevant to case progress
Work Experience Requirements
• Ability to apply knowledge of behavior modification and behavior analysis
assessment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of special education curriculum, applied behavior analysis and research.
• Experience working with children with developmental disabilities, behavior problems,
and psychological disorders
Minimum Educational Requirements
• Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field and working toward license to practice
psychology in the state of Louisiana (fulfilling all requirements of the Louisiana State
Board of Examiners of Psychologists).
• The individual must be in good standing and free of any pending litigation.
Physical requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Licensure obligations
• Minimum of 1 hour per week of individual supervision with licensed psychologist
• Minimum of 2000 hours of postdoctoral training
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
1. Supervision provided by Licensed Psychologists in the Behavioral Health Department.
2. Works independently, but consults with all other individuals relevant to each client when
necessary
3. Reports directly to the Director of Behavioral Health.
