Psychology, Full Time, Temporary, Non-Tenure Track, Visiting Assistant Professor

College/Department Overview: 

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 21 undergraduate majors and 29 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). Position Overview: 

The Psychology Department invites applications for a one semester, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning January 2024. Candidate is expected to teach, advise, and evaluate students, and maintain department and student records in accordance with university policies. Candidate is expected to adhere to the educational philosophy of the university, work collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers, and participate in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Preferred application date is November 10, 2023.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

All areas of psychology will be considered but the department is particularly interested in candidates with training and research in an experimental and/or applied field of psychology. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and Master’s level courses in specialty areas as well as other service courses such as General Psychology, Research Design, and Statistics as needed. Instruction in courses may require a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and teaching day and/or evening courses. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in scholarly activities, and in departmental, college and university meetings and committees.

Qualifications/Experience Required: 

An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
NOTE: If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to non-tenure-track Instructor.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Teaching experience in higher education and evidence of scholarship are preferred. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Areas of training and research may include (but is not limited to) Cognitive, Developmental, Quantitative, and other applied areas of psychology (e.g., counseling/clinical, health, sports, culture and gender, etc.). Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
