Job Summary
To ensure Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) provides equitable and inclusive services to students through leadership, coordination, and service in the Office of Basic Needs and WellBeing. Services include but are not limited to individual and group therapy, case consultations, basic need support, assessments, and assistance for crisis intervention. The goal of thisposition is to assist students in overcoming specific barriers through equitable and inclusive programmatic efforts, success strategies, and referral to supportive services within the collegecommunity and the larger community in which the campus/student resides. In addition, the position will provide leadership in addressing student basic needs and mental health concerns oncampus, and development of educational programming for both students and staff on basic needs and mental health related topics.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide short term therapy/counseling services and conduct psychological assessments to meet specific student client needs and help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Provides basic needs support to students and education and resources to students, families, college personnel, and community agencies to aid in a culture of belonging and success.
  • Develop and provide formal and informal educational and awareness programs regarding mental health and wellness including suicide prevention for students, staff, and faculty.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in Social Work, Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Clinical Psychology, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • Knowledge of current principles, practices, and techniques of the social and human service field.
  • Knowledge of intervention techniques sufficient to meet the needs of the student population.
  • Experience in providing individual and group therapy.
  • Knowledge of community social and support resources.
  • Knowledge of diverse, equity, and inclusion issues and ability to facilitate and manage students with such issues.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations affecting social and accessibility services.
  • Demonstrated ability in resolving complex and challenging situations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Doctorate of Social Work (DSW).
  • Experience working in a higher education environment, specifically mental health center.
  • Experience working with various community social organizations.
  • Experience supporting students from traditionally marginalized and underrepresented populations.
  • Experience with financial aid and literacy programming and processes.

Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State'svehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
