Job description

About the Position: The incumbent will assist senior protocol coordinators and specialists with all protocol and social matters involving the Commander, Combined Arms Center, and distinguished visitors to Fort Leavenworth, which include Federal and state leaders, general officers, members of congress, foreign nationals, and others.
NOTE: This position is obligated to an employee who has statutory return rights to this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education substitution requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience assisting in the planning of social functions, ceremonies, specials events, and/or conferences; providing administrative support to include maintaining files and records and answering inquiries; and utilizing Microsoft Office and automated databases to compose correspondence and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Public Affairs, or other field related to the position. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of all your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of all your transcripts.)
NOTE: If you feel you qualify based on the substitution of education for experience or a combination of education and experience, you MUST submit copies of ALL your transcripts or you will be rated as ineligible.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Please see the specific instructions regarding supporting documentation for Time in Grade requirements in the REQUIRED DOCUMENTS section, below.
