The Proposal Writing Associateis responsible for collaborating with and supporting the Community & State (C&S) Growth Integration and Proposal team to develop compliant responses to complex, large-scale Medicaid Request for Proposal (RFPs). This includes coordinating, scheduling, and attending proposal-related meetings, preparing meeting materials, and capturing detailed meeting minutes. Additionally, the Proposal Writing Associate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance of proposal processes, resources, and tools, including policies and procedures for current and future proposal processes. Lastly, the Proposal Writing Associate will partner with the RFP Excellence Office on RFP written responses to specific questions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to established C&S proposal process, including use of required tools and documents
  • Support RFP Excellence Office, opportunity owners, and proposal directors to prepare for and facilitate key internal review and strategy meetings occurring along the lifecycle of a growth opportunity
  • Collaborate with and support RFP Excellence Office and proposal team to ensure that key stakeholders are prepared for upcoming RFPs
  • Support key RFP meetings and activities as needed
  • Collaborate with RFP Excellence Office and proposal team to assist with the creation of agendas, summaries, forms, and other documents
  • Organize, maintain, and update proposal archive of tools and forms
  • Support project management of Request for Information (RFI) responses as needed
  • May also attend proposal meetings and capture detailed meeting notes with particular focus on decisions made and next steps
  • Support writing efforts in RFP responses
  • Candidates need to have the ability to work flexible and extended hours when required to meet deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including writing/grammar/proofreading skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently in final year of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree (or obtained degree no longer than 24 months prior to position start date, from an accredited college/university). Bachelor’s Degree must be obtained prior to start of employment
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)


Preferred Qualification:

  • Managed care, Medicaid experience or health care industry experience


  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
