Essential Job Functions: Receives, maintains security and release of property submitted to the Property Unit; enters property into computer; marks and places property in an evidence storage location for accountability; assists in disposal of property by sale, destruction or departmental use; maintains inventory of uniforms and equipment for the Police department and ensures that the uniforms and equipment meet the specifications set forth by the department; testifies in court; operates an automobile; other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Property Unit Supervisor.

Works in an office/warehouse type environment; is exposed to chemical, electrical and fire hazards; is exposed to explosives and bodily injury; comes in contact with dirt, dust, noise fumes, odors, wetness/humidity, and vibration; occasionally works outside in all types of weather. Work hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., (usually not to exceed 30 hours per week) overtime and/or adjusted hours and days worked when needed.Knowledge: Knowledge of general office procedures; knowledge of computer operation; knowledge of record keeping techniques; knowledge of inventory control; knowledge of law enforcement procedures preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and write the English language; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to operate a computer; ability to type accurately; ability to work with other employees and the general public; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both orally and in writing; ability to utilize record keeping techniques both manually and computerized. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, squats, twists body, climbs, speaks, lifts, carries, drags, holds, pushes and pulls objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; one (1) year experience in computer data entry; experience in property management and/or inventory control preferred.
Skills test administered. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Must be able to become certified to operate Texas Crime Information terminal. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a polygraph for security clearance, background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
