Pay Range: $20.92 - $23.10/hour
This position provides front line customer support and requires an individual proficient in Property Taxation, law, system process flow and an overall understanding of accounting concepts.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
- Closes and balances each day’s business for Property Tax and motor vehicle departments; processes all funds via electronic deposits.
- Processes returned payments for taxes and motor vehicle.
- Researches and processes all State of Iowa and daily ACH transactions; Process miscellaneous receipts from county departments.
- Creates daily warrant journal entries for multiple bank accounts and performs daily bank reconciliations.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations of all accounts in a timely manner.
- Monitors and reissues Treasurer refund checks that remain uncashed.
- Identify and resolve issues with accounts that are out of balance.
- Processes Property Tax payments, including tax sales, subsequent payments, special assessments, and drainage district payments; processes required delinquency notices and tax sale notices.
- Maintains all mobile home records and requirements, per Iowa code.
- Applies all Auditor adjustments and Abatements to mobile home parcels.
- Administers the Elderly and Disabled tax credit program as well as the expanded 70 and over credit.
- Uploads all digital archives of records to Paper Vision.
- Verify and process all Treasurer’s certificates.
- Processes all tax sale redemption ACH’s on a weekly basis.
- Responds to public inquiries and provides information and assistance.
- Accept and process handicap placard applications, verify and input into DOT system.
- Performs related duties.
Typical Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years work related experience in the banking or accounting industries
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Proficient in accounting principles and practices.
- Highly skilled in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Highly skilled in the provision of customer services.
- Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
- Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
