Project/Maintenance Engineer

Description of responsibilities, duties, and expectations –
The individual assigned to this position is responsible for managing and supporting capital/expense projects, and maintenance/operational issues as required. The Project/Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for work assigned at all sites located in the Northeast division.
The Project/Maintenance Engineer is expected to demonstrate the ability to comply with all reasonable industry related standards and programs. Some specific responsibilities may include (although not limited to) the following:
Oversight of assigned projects:
· Overall project safety
· Project development, execution oversight and closure
· Managing consultants and contractors
· Keeping accurate records
· Record keeping
Support the E&I Technician(s), Electrical Technician(s), and operations personnel including:
· Hands-on testing and troubleshooting of hydro control systems
· Low, Medium, and High voltage switching and grounding activities
· Managing electrical contractors for construction or maintenance activities
· PLC programming
· HMI development
· Managing maintenance and critical equipment issues, as required.
· Respond to emergency situations and plant call-outs when required
Support the Technical Manager, Regional Managers, and other ECRE personnel on assigned compliance and regulatory projects related to sites, including (but not limited to):
· Fish way operations
· Wildlife management
· Water Quality certifications
· SPCC compliance
· LIHI certifications
Administrative duties:
· Create or assist in the development and implementation of operational and/or maintenance procedures
· Assist in the preparation and management of operational and project budgets
· Assist in obtaining and enforcing all local, state and federal environmental permits and regulatory requirements related to projects.
· Comply with company standards, practices and policies
· Provide accurate records as required
· Must be proficient in the use of personal computers, specifically in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, data collection and database software
· Perform other duties, as assigned
Organizational Relationships -
· Report directly to the Northeast Technical Manager.
· Provide support to overall Northeast team as required.
Qualifications -
· A minimum of an associate degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, experience in hydro, steam and/or gas turbine power plant operations is preferred
· Experienced in the use of personal computers
· Familiar with OSHA requirements and have completed OSHA 10-hour course (or will be completed upon successful employment)
· Proficient with GE Fanuc and Rockwell Software programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA applications
· Must be able to read and understand single and three electrical drawings
· Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand P&IDs
· Must possess a thorough understanding of 3-phase power generation
· Must possess the understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
· Ability to understand complex issues as they relate to plant operations
· Ability to work extended hours, if required
· Ability to perform operational tasks. Operational tasks may include:
· The ability to distinguish between colors
· The ability to climb ladders and to be at heights
· The ability to work well with others in a fast paced, challenging environment
