Come be a part of the Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) mission in protecting public health and enhance the environment by collecting and treating wastewater while recycling valuable resources for the Puget Sound region.
The Wastewater Treatment Division has a position need for a skilled and experienced Wastewater Construction Management IV or Wastewater Construction Management V.
This is a great opportunity for an individual who can grow their skills as a Construction Management professional as a member of project teams that works on challenging projects within Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD).
This position is part of the Construction Management (CM) team that directly influences the outcomes of water quality infrastructure that meets the WTD mission.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Location: Hybrid/Telecommute andSouth Treatment Plant - 1200 Monster Road SW, Renton WA for monthly meetings and other job duties
  • Work Schedule: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labors Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by the Technical Employees Association (TEA).

  • Administer overall implementation phase effort on WTD capital improvement program, DBB (low bid), work/job order and/or DB/GCCM construction contracts, as Owner Representative.
  • Coordinates and leads teams of matrixed CIP personnel including Operations and Maintenance, engineering, community relations, permitting, environmental, right-of-way/property, project control, administrative support, construction management and design consultant staff.
  • Ensures compliance with plan and specification requirements, manages project elements (i.e., scopes, schedules, budget, risk, communication, etc.), and develops and implements QA/QC assignments including inspection team responses, construction activity coordination, progress, start-up/testing plans/training, acceptance and conflict resolution, as required.
  • Manages contract disputes, change order management process and follows KC WTD standards for documents management control and filing.
  • Leads and coordinates construction closeout and works with team on project closeout phase.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or a related technical field OR the equivalent combination of education and experience and five (5) years of construction engineering / management experience, which includes 3 years of field inspection, is required.
  • Construction experience in operational industrial, water, and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience managing large, high profile, and technically and/or contractually complex public works construction contracts.
  • Experience navigating construction claims/litigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams made up of multiple, cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior Project Representatives.
Licensing, Certification and Other Requirements:
  • Training in industrial first aid and confined space entry (or obtain within six months)
