Job description

Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified midstream energy companies in North America with approximately 120,000 miles of pipelines and associated energy infrastructure across 41 states transporting the oil and gas products. The Project Manager will support Energy Transfer's Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity program for gas and liquid facility pipe within Energy Transfer utilizing API 570, 510, 49 CFR part 192 and 195. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Project Manager will be responsible for the assurance of fixed pressure equipment integrity within Energy Transfer with a focus on Facility piping, both liquids and gas.  The Project Manager will be challenged daily with the systematic review and assessment of various piping systems, pressure equipment, storage tanks, etc. in their assigned areas of responsibility utilizing API 570, 510, CFR 49 192 and 195.  The Project Manager will implement the facility piping program and work closely with the Facility Piping Engineer to identify threats and implement an inspection strategy to assess if damage exist, utilizing NDT methods such as guided wave, automated ultrasonic scanning, and ultrasonic phased array.
  • Participate in Facility Risk assessments working with operations, engineering, and the corrosion group to identify preventative and mitigative Inspection Management Strategies.
  • Works closely with the operations to establish inspection schedules, identify corrosion threats, monitor equipment condition, analyze inspection data, document condition history, and make recommendations to ensure safe, reliable operation of piping.
  • The Project Manager supports operations, maintenance, engineering, and project management staff with decisions concerning the integrity of pressure equipment; to meet best practices, industry codes and standards and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Required to consider additional factors in recommendations for repair, such as run time to failure, root cause analysis, life cycle cost, etc. 
  • Obtain and perform API 570 and 510 Pressure Vessel and Piping inspections as needed, routine or emergency.
  • Responsible for the oversight and auditing of NDE and inspection activities in his/her assigned areas
  • Review and approve NDE and inspection results; be able to identify anomalies and eliminate erroneous data.
  • Use equipment integrity inspection and analysis tools such as Shield-Risk Based Inspection to determine the extent of required inspections, and overall inspection strategies.
  • Work with but not limited to Integrity Engineers, Operations, Construction, Gas Control, Corrosion Control, and Right of Way to excavate, inspect, and repair targeted dig locations for ILI validation and defect repairs
  • Inspect and monitor equipment within established schedules.
  • Assure that inspection records are current, accurate and in compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and department requirements.
  • Communicate inspection schedules, repair deadlines, maintenance due dates, etc. and coordinate activities with Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure inspections/repairs are completed by required dates.
  • Manage inspection data within the Shield Corrosion Monitoring program
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all applicable all codes, regulations and requirements and know when to seek higher level advice and assistance.
  • Responds to unplanned events to understand their causes and develops recommendations to prevent their recurrence.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 8+ years of direct work experience in managing midstream natural gas facility and pipeline projects.
  • Current API 570 certification
  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software, WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK,
  • Develop field drafting Isometrics of piping systems
  • Read, interpret, and correct as necessary, Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID)
  • Must be knowledgeable in CFR 49 192 and 195 related to pipeline integrity.
  • Experience writing inspection procedures.
  • Proven knowledge of relevant API, ASME, ANSI and other applicable codes and specifications.
  • Training in various pipeline repair techniques
  • Training in RSTRENG calculations
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) 30 days after employment begins based on TWIC requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a respectful manner in a diverse work environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training with RBI methodologies and software.
  • Current API 510 Certification.
  • Formal API 579 FFS training.
  • 60 hours towards a bachelor's degree or an associate degree.
  • Familiar with and able to use Computer Aid Drafting CAD Autodesk
  • A strong knowledge base in advanced NDE technologies including guided wave testing, Phased Array ultrasonic testing, time of flight diffraction (TOFD), remote field eddy current testing (RFEC), digital radiography.
  • Field experience hours to be certified in ASNT level II UTT and MT.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions. 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights and working in small vessel confined spaces openings for extended periods. Regular climbing of equipment structure and scaffold ladders both internal and external.
  • Must be able to drive for extended periods time and distances further than 90 miles.
  • Must have a safe driving record.
  • A minimum of 25% travel to facilities in the assigned territory and outside the assigned area is to be expected, including but not limited to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, and training.
  • The job may also involve participating on occasional unscheduled callouts and extended workdays and/or workweeks.
  • Position may be subject to applicable U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol regulations
  • The incumbent may be required to learn duties associated with one or more specific areas of the operation depending on the operational need and the employee's demonstrated abilities.
  • Natural gas gathering and processing is an "around the clock" operation and may be subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, heights, high pressure gas lines, heavy lifting, and cramped conditions.
