Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Santa Clara, California 95054 / Hybrid
Job Duration: 12 Months contract to hire

Rate/Salary: $60-70/hr


Work location: Santa Clara, CA / hybrid but we need to be adaptable to the client requirements. The actual requirement from the city is for the position to be onsite however they are open to a hybrid model with 2 to 3 days a week onsite.
Description:

  • The Project Manager is responsible for structuring End User and Portfolio related projects, performing the detailed planning, and managing project execution and completion of moderate or large type projects.
  • Defines the phase deliverables, tracks milestones and incurred expenses versus planned expenses, schedules roles and resources, test, training and implementation plans, evaluates risks and recommends contingency plans.
  • Assigns resources and tasks, and manages quality assurance, resolution of issues, status reviews and reporting, and compliance with all policies and procedures and support artifacts.
  • Generally leads a group of technical resources and other IT technical staff and where necessary, collaborate with the business domain and business subject matter experts, relying on experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Additionally will manage the PMO Resource Management functions and reporting to the client.

Skills:

  • Five (5) years hands on experience as a Project Manager required.
  • Demonstrated experience as Application Project Manager.
  • PMP Certification Preferred
  • ITIL Certification Preferred (Experience with ITIL v3 needed, v4 would be ideal)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be very flexible and versatile, capable of wearing multiple hats (Hands on, PM, BA) and driving concurrent tasks to completion.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills at all levels including CxO levels.
  • Project management, process, and documentation skills
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Experience in gathering user requirements and documentation of formal business requirements and functional specifications.

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
Responsibilities:

  • Managerial
    • Excellent customer support and interpersonal skills
    • Maintain Resource Management Planning and update the client on a weekly basis.
    • Possesses experience in the overall responsibility for structuring a project.
    • Performs detailed planning, project execution management and completion of moderate or large projects.
    • Defines the phase deliverables.
    • Tracks milestones and incurred expenses versus planned expenses
    • Schedules roles and resources
    • Evaluates risks and recommends contingency plans.
    • Manages the development of the technical strategy.
    • Assigns resources and tasks.
    • Manages quality assurance, resolution of issues, status reviews and reporting.
    • Assists in the development of standards, change control, customer support, and compliance with all policies and procedures.
    • Follow up with key clients regularly throughout the issue resolution process to provide smooth communication.
    • Provide timely and comprehensive status reports that maintain service level agreements.
    • Provide up-to-date information to clients in response to specific inquiries.
    • Provide advance notifications to management regarding potential issues before they occur.

Technical

    • Responsible for managing critical IT and departmental projects/action items in the End User space.
    • Provide consulting support on City IT provided processes and systems relating to projects and ITIL processes.
    • Develop use cases and test plans.
    • Perform quality assurance and functional testing.
    • Work with the City IT team to advise on the current use of project management and ITIL standards/technologies and expand the use of standardized technologies in the future.
    • Work with outside Consultants and solution providers on business issues and solutions relating to projects.
    • Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and colleagues to meet expected customer service objectives.
    • Provide research and analysis for product/service recommendations that include descriptions of the service, processing considerations, expense and potential revenue analysis, benefits and risks.
    • Coordinate implementation projects with various business units, functional areas and/or vendors.

Customer Interface

    • Build strong and trusted relationships with IT and departmental stakeholders in order to be viewed as a strong thought leader.
    • Meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis.
    • Provide status reports on a regular basis that demonstrate delivery according to service level agreements.
    • Communicate challenges and opportunities proactively and consistently to drive business performance.
  • Communication
    • Innovative self-starter with excellent communication skills
    • Meet with Project Stakeholders at least once a week to provide smooth communication.
    • Meet with IT and project departmental staff and regularly to provide two-way communication of projects.
    • Create and maintain a work environment that promotes effective communication between team members and management.
    • Promote a work environment that respects and values the expertise of others and provides each team member the ability to contribute to organizational success.
    • Participate in team meetings on a regular basis.
    • Communicate in a customer-focused manner.
    • Build a network and proactively maintain contacts to foster professional and personal growth.
  • Security and Safety
    • Adhere to the standards and requirements set to provide a business-oriented and professional work environment.
    • Adhere to the Customer's safety standards for the work environment.
  • Personnel
    • Work with Unisys management in setting performance objectives and goals on a quarterly basis.
    • Complete formal performance evaluations with Unisys management at mid-year and year-end.
    • Develop a training plan to enhance job performance as well as professional growth.
