In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains.  Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products.  At API, you’ll join a global network of manufacturing professionals who are passionate about what they do.

The Position

Responsible for project management activities related to the various projects within DAPI-US facility. Tasks include the oversight of design & construction of a new equipment, modifications to existing facilities, or various other improvement projects. Manage production related deliverables & personnel within the project to ensure project objectives are met as they relate to cost, quality & schedule.

 

Relationships

Coached by: Project Director, Project Office – API.

 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for executing capital investment projects of various complexities within a GMP manufacturing setting at DAPI-US
  • Follows all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Manages the triple constraints of budget, timeline & scope to meet expectations of both customers & management
  • Responsible for adherence to mechanism for monitoring project progress, intervention & problem solving with other line managers or personnel
  • Responsible for leading project teams of various expertise to complete end to end project execution
  • Collaborates extensively with cross functional work package owners to ensure tasks & requirements are communicated & followed up on
  • Adjusts priorities to multiple demands & unanticipated events; demonstrates flexibility in response to changing circumstances
  • Responsible for communications to management & other pertinent units
  • Assists with any training required of personnel supporting the project
  • Ensure that installation, troubleshooting, qualification & validation of equipment meets all commitments laid out by the overall project
  • Responsible for development & execution of projects identified as process needs & improvement opportunities
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Ability to do close precision work with their hands. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting and standing) 50% of the time. May required corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials.

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in engineering or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in facility infrastructure preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years proven project management skills in a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Ability to read/review design drawings (CAD) with a basic understanding of P&ID, HVAC, & Electrical systems. Understanding of complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts. Basic understanding of contractual documents & ability to create work plans & detailed project schedules. Working knowledge of API manufacturing equipment & facilities preferred
  • Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams preferred
