Purpose and Essential Duties

The Project Manager shall be responsible for an entire life cycle of a project from inception through to closure. The Project Manager shall ensure that the project is delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with agreed budget, schedule, quality and exceed the client’s expectations.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Participate in business development activities through response to Request For Qualifications (RFQ), Request For Proposal (RFP) and participation in project interview presentations.
  • Work with the client (internal or external) to define the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks and expectations that are considered to deliver a successful project.
  • Develop a proposal to document the project scope, schedule, deliverables, measures of success and associated fee.
  • Develop an internal Work Plan to define revenue, hours budget, internal cost budget, travel budget, sub consultant budget and estimate reimbursable amounts.
  • Ensure the revenue and budget estimates are entered in to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to accurately reflect the execution of the project.
  • Work with Leadership to ensure the project is correctly resourced per the established budgets and schedule.
  • Schedule the project tasks and resources to ensure the agreed upon schedule is met within the budget constraints established.
  • Establish a project Kick Off meeting and ensure all team members are communicated to effectively throughout the course of the project.
  • Manage team members and sub-consultants to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Continuously track and report project execution against budget in terms of schedule adherence, deliverables, cost and revenue.
  • Where appropriate, technically direct/execute aspects of the project.
  • Manage the client expectations and ensure regular updates are effectively communicated throughout the duration of the project.
  • Ensure the project is closed out when appropriate and all commercial aspects are completed.
  • Participates in relevant organizations for networking and professional development.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Project Executive.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Experience leading and managing a technical team.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in one of the following sectors: engineering design, construction, facilities management, or energy.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or related technical degree.
  • Experience in an engineering design discipline.
  • Experience in the construction and/or energy sector.
  • Experience in facilities management.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). If not, expected to earn certification within the first year of employment.

Travel Requirements

  • Depending on project need and location, estimated to be around 30-60% of regular work schedule per month.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in front of a computer in the office environment.
  • The office environment is usually quiet.
  • Site and Mechanical/Equipment room environments are generally loud and require personal protective gear including hard hat, eye and ear protection.
  • Ability to walk, climb and crawl on a project construction site on occasions.
  • Exposed to inclement weather or elevated interior space temperatures in Mechanical/Equipment rooms.
