Job description

Caltrans Public Affairs is looking for a confident, well-rounded Project Manager with strong contract management experience as well as experience in marketing and public relations to manage the Statewide Highway Safety Campaign. Under the general direction of the Public Affairs Division Chief, the incumbent will be the project manager for the Safety Education Campaign Manager and will develop and manage the scope of a Safety Education Campaign. Will manage the administration of the project efficiently in accordance with the terms of contract agreement to stay within scope, schedule, and budget. Will collaborate and work closely with Caltrans Maintenance Division and its subject matter experts to ensure that the contract and campaign elements meet and always strive to achieve the department's safety objectives. The candidate must develop a comprehensive media and communications plan to inform and educate stakeholders, management, and the public on Safety Education and have some experience being a spokesperson for the campaign when needed.

Working Conditions
Position located in Sacramento, Sacramento County.
While in the office, the incumbent will work in a climate-controlled building under artificial lighting. The building temperature may fluctuate. The work environment is fast-paced, busy and requires considerable flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments. It can be demanding and/or stressful.
This position may be eligible for partial telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
