The Project Engineer Manager is responsible for leading development and execution of the Conway Capital Program and Expense projects in support of the manufacturing operations to ensure customer service, profitability, and continuous improvement.
- Leads major project initiatives (>2M). This responsibility includes identifying all equipment capabilities, utility, and infrastructure requirements
- Works as a member of a cross-functional team including Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Compliance, R D, and Supply Chain professionals to set strategy and operationalize new products and process opportunities
- Leads multiple, concurrent, projects
- Leads teams of cross functional members as part of overall project execution to understand current conditions/needs and uses team to drive process/project forward.
- Develops, maintains, and communicates project plans and coordinates project activities; tracks critical path milestones, accomplishments, and results
- Prepares Project Requests utilizing supplier information, cost standards, technical information from quality, manufacturing engineering and design.
- Evaluates vendor drawings and manufacturing processes for potential failure modes and effect on customer products or service
- Participates in, and leads risk assessments and actively manages the risks of the projects to the business
- Leads the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for proposed projects and in the development and preparation of technical specifications.
- Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
- Assists in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits and designs for project.
- Performs technical specification review and resolution.
- Coordinates the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within the company and customer.
- Assists in the preparation of probable construction cost estimates
- Manages contractor/vendor activities
- Schedules and monitors program/project activity to achieve cost, quality, and schedule results
- Monitors and documents project cost activity to achieve an "in budget" result
- Evaluates project performance and execution on plant functional areas and minimize any impacts
- Performs work which involves conventional methods and types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features
- Works with Maintenance leadership to develop and recommend maintenance and operations procedures to support new equipment and processes
- Supervises technical testing, survey or field engineering teams.
- Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
- Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests and aerial photographs on soil compositions, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project
- Reviews and monitors project progress to assure quality and adherence to requirements of contract documents
- Responsible for control of work-in-progress, ensures accurate client billings, monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on related projects
- Mentors, trains and coaches junior colleagues
- Performs other assigned duties as deemed necessary by their supervisor
Qualification
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor's degree or greater in an Engineering discipline (or similar technical area)
- Five years of project engineering experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience managing projects with a scope in excess of (2M dollars)
- Extensive Project Management Experience managing interdisciplinary projects
- Ability to read and develop Process Flow and Piping and Instrumentation diagrams; ability to read and interpret Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical drawings
- Work with minimal guidance
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, Outlook Visio
- Advanced understanding and functional use of AutoCAD LT or similar CAD software
- Have good communication skills
- Ability to multi task
- Must have good mathematical skills
- Formal Project Management training preferred
