Projeo Corporation (www.projeo.com) is advancing safe, affordable subsurface solutions for the energy transition with a focus on CO2 storage, Geothermal, Hydrogen Storage, Critical Mineral Development, Oil and Gas, Gas Storage, and EOR projects. Projeo provides geoscience and reservoir engineering technical expertise, experienced operational and field supervision services, and integrated project management for low-carbon energy projects. Projeo has a history of government-funded project leadership, and a growing client list that allows us to play an integral, hands-on role in a wide variety of subsurface projects advancing the energy transition. Projeo’s expertise has driven multiple leading-edge projects, including the first active EPA UIC Class VI CO2 injection well dating back to 2011. Projeo was acquired by GTI International, a holding company and wholly owned subsidiary of GTI Energy, in January 2022.

 

Position Summary

The Project Manager will directly manage government-funded and commercial projects that Projeo is engaged in such as:

  • Federal Grants – Manage large, multi-year federal grants including the resourcing and execution of proposed work programs, financial management, reporting, and all other contract requirements.
  • Commercial Projects – Manage shorter-term, time-sensitive confidential projects for commercial customers including resourcing, provision of deliverables on-time and on-budget, and financial management.

The Project Manager will also be responsible for leading the preparation of federal grant and commercial project proposals.

Additionally, the Project Manager will contribute to Projeo’s Business Development efforts in existing/new markets related to the low-carbon energy transition where Projeo seeks to grow (see above). The Project Manager will also be expected to contribute to the technical execution of workscopes in their technical area of expertise on projects managed by himself/herself or others.  

 
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day management of a portfolio of government and commercial projects, including defining the scope of the project, staying on schedule, planning a project’s cost and sticking to a budget, managing project resources (including teams and workers), documenting the progress of the project, communicating with stakeholders, assessing risks, troubleshooting, and leading quality assurance.
  • Plan and lead federal grant proposals (e.g., DOE), including preparation of technical materials, community engagement plans, budgets, management plans, and all supporting documentation. Conceive project concepts, recruit project partners and contractors, and understand goals of individual solicitations.
  • Plan and lead commercial proposals including understanding customer needs, developing work scopes and budgeting/pricing.
  • Contribute to Projeo’s Business Development efforts in existing/new markets related to the low-carbon energy transition where Projeo seeks to grow (see above).
  • Expected to contribute to the technical execution of workscopes in their area of expertise on projects managed by himself/herself or others.
  • Travel to and from field sites to support and work on active field operations.
  • Plan work schedules and help with logistics for vendors and field personnel.
  • Coordinate and support field sample collection and laboratory services.
  • Monitor third party personnel, services, and equipment in line with Projeo’s core values.
  • Actively participate in data management and continuous process improvement or Projeo’s data management and collection systems.
  • Coach and assist in the development of technical and operational team members on project management concepts.
  • Work with business managers to refine and buildout Projeo’s Project Management Office and the supporting processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Leadership/Mentorship – The Project Manager practices active listening and provides basic mentoring and assistance to less experienced staff and is aware of the value of sharing knowledge with individuals within their team.
  • Client Focus – The Project Manager will have strong interpersonal and analytical skills to establish a relationship of openness, trust, integrity, and reliability with Projeo clients. The Project Manager will work well in a collaborative environment with management, engineering, and research teams and maintain effective performance under pressure.
  • Performance Focus – The candidate is a self-starter who can proactively manage operational personnel and establish goals in a dynamic environment in order to meet scope, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement – The Project Manager must be able to demonstrate a practical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving. The Project Manager promotes standards & develops procedures and processes to improve business performance and safe project execution.
  • Organization – Well organized in order to plan work schedules and meetings for operations and contract personnel.
  • Oral Communication – The Project Manager will have advanced oral communication skills to effectively interact with peer groups, technical contributors, vendors, clients, subordinates, and management. The Project Manager will be confident in the presentation and discussion of factual data.
  • Written Communication – The Project Manager will have strong technical reporting and writing skills as demonstrated through published or internal clear and concise technical reports. The Project Manager will demonstrate a deep understanding of the importance of and theory behind written communication.
  • Software - Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Vision – Excited about energy transition projects and willing to contribute to the development of energy transition projects.
  • Management of Indirect Reports – The Project Manager will utilize resources from elsewhere in the organization to execute assigned projects. Excellent relationships across the organization are required for the coordination and management of these resources. The Project Manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining close professional working relationships with Projeo’s customers and clients.

 

Relationships

Supervisor: Program Manager or Director of Corporate Development

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

It is not envisioned that the Project Manager will have direct reports at least initially, however he/she will be responsible for the overall management of assigned projects including the resources assigned to each which will include persons that are not direct reports.

 
Education and Experience
  • Engineering or Physical Science bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year University or College.
  • Greater than 15 years of experience in the upstream oil & gas industry and/or energy transition industries, including experience managing federal field demonstration projects and commercial consulting engagements.
  • Prior experience with CO2 storage a plus.
  • Formal training in Project Management including certifications are highly preferred.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting/exceeding targets in a continuously changing environment.

 

Physical Requirements
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Work authorization for the United States.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel to customer locations, to professional conferences, and to field locations.
  • Travel will be required (~25%).
