Project Management Office Engineer/Analyst (Birmingham, AL)

This position will be located at The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL
SUMMARY OF POSITION DUTIES
This position will assist project managers and leaders through project delivery using his/her education and experience; knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines; and relationships with project teams and support groups throughout TSS to influence successful project outcomes.
Some of the job responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop and sustain continuous improvement to the project delivery process through feedback and evaluation
- Lead training sessions both one-on-one and for large groups
- Facilitate project readiness reviews (CII tool) and risk assessments for project teams
- Coordinate estimate challenges between project teams, stakeholders, and internal estimating
- Assist project managers in preparations for gate reviews to the project review board
- Support the project review board by facilitating meetings, coordinating project delivery deviation requests, and tracking action items
- Managing project benchmarking efforts through internal and external surveys and assessments
- Manage lessons learned program by coordinating global lessons learned/best practices, generating reports, and creating alerts
- Developing relationships with project managers and regional managers to support the needs of the project team while maintaining the needed discipline of a project delivery process
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Engineering, Construction, or Business degree would be a plus
- Experience working in a heavy industrial environment is required (i.e. Power Generation, Construction, Pulp/Paper, Chemical, etc.)
- Working knowledge/experience in at least one of the following Project Management disciplines is preferred:
- Contract administration
- Project controls (Estimating, Cost, Scheduling)
- Site coordination
- Project management, project engineering, construction management
- Experience and involvement with industry organizations such as PMI, CII, IPA and CURT is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction processes is a plus
- Must possess the ability to build strong working relationships with internal departments and other project interfaces
- Proficiency with standard analytical and business software such as Word, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, and Excel
- Solid multi-tasking, time management and critical thinking skills
- Emerging leadership skills in an engineering environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required
- Must be flexible, adapting easily to changing priorities
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 25% travel is required for site visits and peer information-sharing forums
