An Oakland, CA-based professional consulting firm seeks an experienced Project Engineer who is a self-starter, highly organized, and is *preferably* an Oakland resident for an upcoming Project Engineer role.
YOUR RESPNSIBILITIES
You will be reporting to a project executive or senior project manager to provide construction management, administrative, and technical support for a project team so it can successfully execute program and construction management assignments for one or more of the following client types: K-12 public schools, community colleges, independent and charter schools, arenas, stadiums, or community recreation.
YOUR DUTIES
- Schedule development, cost estimating, subcontract coordination, construction monitoring, KPI performance tracking an analysis, constructability reviews, budget reconciliation, project documentation, public approvals and permitting, schedule compliance, and commissioning activities.
- Supporting Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with serving as the Client’s “trusted advisor” focused on achievement of project goals for schedule, budget, and quality, and providing critical thinking and analyses to ensure quality client advice.
- Takes full-management responsibility for smaller- to medium-scaled implementation assignments of over $10MM in total project costs.
- Manage all aspects of construction including, but not limited to, investigation of construction needs, conducting regular AOC meetings, delegating construction related tasks to the team members according to their professional roles and responsibilities, coordination with design professionals, overseeing contractor selection and the bidding process, management of general/subcontractors throughout the construction process, and management of multiple construction schedules and budgets.
- Develop client deliverables, including RFI’s, submittals, change orders, written reports, presentations, budgets, schedules, and other construction documents that are tailored to meet client’s desired outcomes and scope requirements.
- Administer contract administration to ensure adherence to insurance, bonds, and compliance requirements
- Coordinates and directs the day-to-day activities of assigned project staff, both internal (B&D staff) and external (JV partners, subconsultants, architects, and builders) to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Provide input on annual performance reviews of project staff under APM’s direction.
- Perform compliance, quality control, and quality assurance activities to ensure that deliverables
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, real estate development, or related field.
- Three to five years’ experience in a Project Engineer, construction management, or similar position
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- In-depth understanding of the firm’s project types, project management concepts and
methodologies, and competitive advantages, as well as general industry knowledge.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to apply technological solutions to planning or implementation assignments
- Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, CAD/CAM Circuit Design, Bluebeam
- Knowledge of building codes, permit process, and technical requirements of a construction and ability to be productive in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional work environment
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
