Project Engineer Intern

Danforth values education and eagerly welcomes students who are interested in gaining practical experience in Project Management for Mechanical Contracting. This opportunity will provide students with a comprehensive and well-rounded learning experience.

As a Project Engineer Intern at Danforth, you will be a member of the Project Management group, reporting to their assigned Project Manager/Mentor. The Project Engineer Intern will be responsible for learning and modeling JW Danforth Standard Operating Procedures as presented in the Project Management Manual. The Project Engineer Intern will assist the Project Team in the execution of assigned project tasks and milestones; including, but not limited to, pre-construction planning, document control, execution planning, installation status monitoring and labor productivity measurement.

Position Highlights

• You will aid in the improvement of productivity and profitability through coordination of planning and logistics activities to ensure that Foremen and Field Personnel have proper tools, materials, equipment, and information to execute work to hit scheduled milestones.
• Support in identifying project/jobsite inefficiencies and extra steps in work activities.
• Introduction and understanding of utilization of time, materials, and project milestones (Lean construction principles)
• Identify and assist in improved scheduling planning activities.
• Work in conjunction with Shop fabrication/modular fabrication opportunities
• Practice consistent communication processes and updates on schedules between management, supervision, and Shops.
• Identify and understand labor performance measurement systems. Support Foremen who are utilizing these systems.
• Attend Project/Client meetings as required.
• Assist in the Procurement/Subcontracting, CAD, Document Control, Change Proposal and Contract Closeout process.

• Must have the ability and willingness to learn.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Demonstrate strong integrity, punctuality, and enthusiasm to represent Danforth to our Customers.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple team members.
• Enrollment in an accredited (2) or (4) year Construction Management degree program.
