The Union County Engineer is now hiring a Project Engineer to prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects in support of our growing County. Responsible for all engineering, technical disciplines assuring project accuracy, and quality from conception to completion.

Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree with an Engineer Intern designation (minimum); prior experience as a Project Engineer or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation, physical and drug test. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, flexible and a team player.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy; Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree with an Engineer Intern designation and actively working towards Professional Engineer licensure status.

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered light work.(1) Reviews record plat subdivisions received from LUC (Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission) (e.g., reviews, inspects, coordinates, etc.) in compliance with the Union County Subdivision Regulations and Technical Design Standards; works with developer and developer's engineer through detailed construction design according to county specifications.
(2) Assumes responsibility as Project Engineer for various assigned projects (e.g., design, bid, construction administration, etc.).
(3) Assists in supervising Wastewater Plant Operations; assists in capital improvements for the Wastewater Department.
(4) Communicate verbally and in writing to public inquiries and complaints in a professional manner regarding engineering projects as well as other engineering related issues. Resolve conflicts and work cooperatively with others; corresponds with Agencies to obtain grant and loan funding.
(5) Maintains required licensures and certification.
(6) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
(7) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(8) Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge of: *County, Department, and Division goals and objectives; *County, Department, and Division policies and procedures; *personnel rules and regulations; computer aided drafting techniques; civil engineering; road construction, sanitary sewer and wastewater treatment plant maintenance and repair, bridge and culvert design and project administration; general knowledge of construction inspection techniques; storm water management; hydraulic modeling; mechanical diagrams; relevant federal, state and local laws; engineering design principles; surveying principles; design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD.
Skill in: Detailed plan review of street, storm water, sanitary sewer plans and calculations; phased reviews of development plans; planning and scheduling; computer aided drafting; civil engineer design; computer operation, detailed calculations, motor vehicle operations; public speaking/communication; project management.
