The Project Engineer position is responsible for the coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. This role plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assignments, monitors work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices, as well as ensures effective communication with Project Managers and other project participants.

The Project Engineer position is responsible for the coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. This role plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assignments, monitors work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices, as well as ensures effective communication with Project Managers and other project participants.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with project management, the construction crew, and clients to provide daily technical support to ensure construction work performed is in compliance with all contract documents
- Work onsite with site safety officers to actively support both site specific safety best practices and RECON corporate safety programs and policies
- Assist with the preparation and submission of pre-mobilization documentation, including regulatory submittals and reports, in accordance with all contract documents and the client's expectations
- Manage field quality control, testing, and sampling (including soil, groundwater and stormwater sampling); manage field data and prepare quality control documentation
- Conduct progress inspections of the work being performed onsite to ensure compliance with the scope of work, contract documents, and applicable regulatory agencies
- Supervise site surveys and layout including preparation of weekly installed quantities to support project reporting and invoicing processes
- Support project site Superintendents by preparing purchase requisitions and purchase orders, managing the processes related to receiving and expediting materials for earthwork projects
- Provide technical oversight of subcontractors and act as the interface between clients and crew; control and implement the Request For Information processes including the required documentation for project submittal logs, drawings, and sketches to support the work
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering/Science; or a related discipline
- Three or more years of Project Engineer/Project Field Engineer experience in earthwork or environmental remediation; construction/environmental consulting experience would be a plus
- Basic knowledge and understanding of groundwater and soil sampling equipment, heavy construction equipment, soil, materials and techniques related to environmental remediation
- Working knowledge of materials testing related to earthwork and environmental remediation
- Understanding of the basic principles of design and model assumptions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Teams to create logical reports
- Experience working with graphs and data reduction with a high level of accuracy; expertise in AutoCAD, Groundworks, and/or scheduling software would be a plus
- Ability to interpret and implement quality control (QC) plans and data effectively
- Must be willing to travel to work on projects sites as assigned with a monthly rotation back home
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, climb, operate and work around motorized vehicles and equipment, and possibly work in confined spaces or at heights
- Ability to work in a construction environment with potential exposure to dust, noise, waste, toxic and infectious materials, and inclement weather
