Foth Production Solutions, LLC is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Project Electrical and Controls Engineer who has a desire to contribute to our clients' success and is looking for new learning experiences and opportunities for career growth. This position will be working out of our Chicago, IL; Green Bay, WI; Madison, WI; Milwaukee, WI; or Minneapolis, MN office location.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Execute projects in accordance with required safety protocols
  • Execute project in accordance to the proposal/Scope of work agreed upon (within budget, to scope and on schedule), including develop design packages for bid and construction
  • Build quality into, inspect defect out of and drive consistency of the final technical deliverable
  • Assist in developing proposals and estimates for scopes of work (including estimated labor requirements, prepare discipline related tasks and associated budgets and schedules)
  • Plans and organizes the work of engineers, drafters, designers and technicians (including external resources).
  • Research / gather information from existing Foth and client project archives to aid in the design process
  • Obtain and document data from the field (field measurements of existing structures, equipment and systems)
  • Utilize industry accepted engineering practices, standards and calculations to complete technical deliverables
  • Utilize the capabilities of other competency members
  • Lead and provide input to technical project conversations (project communications updates, design reviews, field prep meetings, design/model review)
  • Produce written documentation (meeting minutes, technical manuals, description of operations and the like) and follow document management practices.
  • Specify equipment and interface with vendors
  • Use and continuously improve standard work processes
  • Designing and developing complex multi-panel control systems for analog processes and digital machines
  • Low voltage (up to 600 VAC) power distribution systems including control panel design and overcurrent protection coordination.
  • Work simultaneously on multiple project and client teams
  • Coordinate and execute design and programming of PLC/DCS, HMI, VFD and Servo Motion projects from hardware design and software integration through construction start-up
  • Ability to interface directly with client(s) as required
  • Provide and prepare for onsite engineering support which may include nights and weekends (FAT, construction oversight, installation support, startup, troubleshooting)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites as needed (average of 30% annually)
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a combination of two or four year technology degree supplemented with equivalent technical training or experience
  • 7 years of relevant engineering/design experience with exposure to manufacturing environments, including troubleshooting complex projects
Required Previous Experience in the Following Technical Areas:
  • Industrial Power Systems (<600V)
  • Electrical system design schematics (For example: SCCR, FLA, UL requirements, etc.)
  • CAD/ACADE – understanding of features, reports, and process of design/drawing process
  • Industrial EtherNet/IP Networking (Rockwell)
  • Industrial Networking including VLANs, NAT and understanding of IIoT
  • NFPA70 (NEC), NFPA70E, NFPA79 Electrical Standards
  • Inverter duty motors/VFD's selection, sizing, integration, and design
  • Safety systems design & interlocking of equipment - safety standards (ISO 13849-1 & RIA 15.06) and risk assessments
  • PLC and HMI Programming/Troubleshooting (Rockwell/ AB products – Rockwell ControlLogix and Factory Talk View HMI hardware & software)
  • Electrical Control panel design and layout
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
  • Engineering/design experience in food manufacturing
Preferred Previous Experience in the Following Technical Areas:
  • Developing construction and installation documentation
  • Siemens or Schneider/Modicon PLCs
  • Wonderware
  • Robotics, Vision Systems, 3D Scanners
  • Have experience or conceptual understanding of database programming (SQL, RS-SQL, MS Access)
  • Programming Languages (excluding PLC)
  • Servo Motor Selection, Sizing, Integration and Design
  • Industrial Ethernet Networking (Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, AS-I network, IO Link)
