Job description

Role:Project Director (junior to mid-junior level) working at the intersection of Cultural Insights, Innovation, Speculative Futures, Brand Strategy, and Creative Strategy.

Location: This is a remote position though you must be based in North America.

Overview

Space Doctors, a Human8 company, is hiring for a position in our North America office. We are a global cultural and creative consultancy and B Corp. We are known for shaping brands and organizations such as Microsoft, Meta, Google, Audi, P&G, J&J, Kraft Heinz, and Phillips (among many others) by helping them connect and respond to cultural change.
We’re looking for a new Project Director to join our team and support us in delivering extraordinary insights and consulting for brands and organizations while helping clients make more environmentally and socially positive decisions.

Key Responsibilities

This role would work at the intersection of cultural insights, innovation, speculative futures, brand strategy, and creative strategy. In this role, you will:
  • plan and conduct research that addresses our clients’ challenges,
  • identify and articulate the insights that our clients will find valuable and inspirational,
  • produce reports and presentations delivered to clients with a high standard in terms of their structure, content, conclusions, and provocations,
  • assist in managing external analysts, and
  • assist in coordinating and communicating with clients.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • You will have 2-5 years of experience in a cultural research and insights, brand strategy, or creative strategy environment.
  • Degree in semiotics, social science, cultural analysis, brand strategy, marketing, arts, design, or related field.
  • Experience in semiotic analysis via social sciences or commercial arts alongside the interest to deepen this skill.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with strength in being erudite, clear, nuanced, and engaging.
  • Some experience with client management is important, as is a proven ability to work across multiple teams and projects.
  • Intellectually curious, open, and aware of culture and communications, as well as being able to understand deeper connections, meanings, and dynamics within it. Able to shape and articulate an interesting point of view related to this understanding.
  • Passionate about understanding culture to inform imaginative and progressive ways forward.
  • An agile thinker and problem solver that is able to flex and improvise as well as frame — and reframe — your thinking.
  • Comfortable navigating and working within ambiguity and complexity on projects.
  • Proactive, with clarity of purpose.
  • Excited to collaborate with an integrated, global team.
  • Enthusiastic about working across a variety of categories and client challenges.

Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in:
    • consumer/customer/user insights
    • trends research and analysis
    • data analytics platforms for research
    • go-to-market strategy
  • Interest in:
    • sensory insight approaches
    • speculative futures
  • Additional language skills beyond English, particularly Spanish. As a global consultancy, this helps us stretch our work more effectively, especially in key markets: LATAM, EMEA, and APAC.

Anticipated Salary Range & Benefits
For this particular role, the range is $75,000 - $95,000 a year for full time (depending on experience and skill level). Space Doctors provides an excellent benefits package to our team with generous PTO.
