Description
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs many varied functions for the Cabinet for Health and FamilyServices. OIG has six Divisions: Division of Regulated Child Care, Division of Health Care, Division ofAudits and Investigations, Certificate of Need, Division of Telehealth Services, and the Division of KentuckyHealth Information Exchange. These Divisions cover a wide variety of job tasks and duties in varied settingsthroughout Kentucky, which include inspecting and licensing childcare and healthcare facilities and services,conducting investigations of complaints in those facilities, conducting Medicaid fraud and other types ofcomplaints for the Cabinet. OIG is also responsible for managing Kentucky's Health Information Exchange,which is the technical infrastructure that enables doctors, hospital staff, and other healthcare providers toelectronically share patient health information and health history.
The Project Design Coordinator II performs professional duties to include planning, scheduling, coordinating,and participating in preparations of site plans, architectural plans, engineering plans, feasibility studies,and major construction projects for all construction projects for health care facilities in Kentucky. Thisposition conducts final inspections to determine if state health care facilities are following state andfederal licensure requirements after construction is completed. This position will be working witharchitectural, engineering companies and facility owners regarding approvals and deficiencies and participatesin the design of new structures and/or the renovation and restoration of existing structures to meet state andfederal requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs professional work in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and participating in the design for all statewide health care facility construction and conducts final inspections.
  • Conducts in-depth reviews of schematic, preliminary, and final design documents of health care facility's construction for compliance with state licensure requirements.
  • Conducts final on-site inspections after construction is completed.
  • Written and verbal communications with architects, engineering firms, and owners regarding changes, amendments, approvals, and issuance of deficiencies of health care facilities.
  • Recommends licensure of health care facility for each approved construction.
  • Participates in the design of new structures and/or the renovation and restoration of existing structures to meet state and federal requirements.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Ability to Interpret Kentucky Statutes and Regulations.
  • Computer skills to include, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, Word, and internet-based software.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time restraints.
  • Written and verbal communication.
  • Analytical thinking and decision-making.
  • Organization and time management.
  • Basic knowledge of building codes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be licensed as a professional architect by the Kentucky Board of Architects OR, must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers & Land Surveyors or, must be registered as a professional landscape architect by the Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which may require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
