CDI Engineering Solutions is a multi-disciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering design, project support, procurement and construction management services to the energy and chemicals industries.

This position is accountable for ensuring that the project cost and schedule is documented and managed, rolling up deliverables created by project contractors. Experience with $100M+ TIC projects.

Key project position and partner of the Project Manager, including the ability to challenge and deliver timely support

Functional Expert on project budget (CapEx) control.

Cost will primarily be managed by the project contractors, with the Project Controls lead responsible for the project roll up.  One-off commitments that are not managed by contractors will be included in the rollup by the Project Controls lead.

The Project Controls lead will manage this transition of the schedule from EP contractor to the GC, ensuring that the full project schedule is captured through the contractor schedules and/or summary schedules developed by the Project Controls lead.

Cost control/management of the project budget: responsible for content project reporting (budget, committed, actual, forecast, S-Curves, Progress Curves, KPI’s), flag deviations and propose mitigating actions.

Utilize owner SAP system to track actual costs, invoices, purchase orders, etc. as part of project control responsibilities.

The Project Controls lead is accountable for reviewing and validating the schedule data prepared by the EP or GC, interfacing directly with the contractor and with the client Project Engineer / Construction Manager as needed.  Where concerns are noted, the Project Controls lead shall work with the contractors to mitigate the concern.

Endorse contractor invoices as accurate per the contractor reporting systems before recommending approval.  Validate invoices against the contract terms.

Primary role in Contracting and Claim Management – supporting Project Manager

Ensures information flow into the Estimate to Complete

Participate in Risk Management & Mitigation

Primary role in Change/Deviation budget management – supporting Project Manager Change and variation management for project.

Maintain change log, budget impact and contingency flow.

Derive the CapEx forecast (monthly) by linking budget with schedule, ensure expenditure forecast implementation in company system to enable correct CapEx reporting (actuals + forecast) on Nouryon level

Supporting the project governance, segregation of duties, approvals, timely registration of GR/SES and hours

Apply project WBS structure enabling cost reporting in alignment with Project Manager and coordinate deviations from the standard

Maintain and control the approved budget in the project WBS structure

Support Vendor Award process reviewing Commercial BID Evaluations, triggering the PO process, alignment with code of conduct

Expert in Project Control methodologies and linking the key disciplines in the project

Supporting Project Manager in project closure, “owning” the capitalization process at the end of the project in consultation with accounting

Project reviews and benchmarking with IPA if needed.
