A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROJECT BIOLOGIST

As a Project Biologist, you are an integral component of our mining support business. Your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of the Office Manager, you provide support on a wide range of environmental and mine site projects including: Soil and groundwater characterization, vegetation transects, avian surveys, water resources activities, seeps and springs monitoring, and Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments. Your primary job function will be to support the Elko, NV office with field planning and execution, data analysis and client document preparation. You will support field work activities as needed to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed.

People skills are essential as you interact regularly with contractors, regulators, and clientele. Though a lot of time is spent in the field conducting sampling, vegetation transects, and seeps and springs monitoring, you are also preparing project reports and completing routine administrative tasks. Collected field data is analyzed and summarized in reports and presented to Project and Office Managers for final review. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SCIENTIST/ENGINEER

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology with emphasis on botany, ecology and other related fields
  • Ability to traverse up to six miles a day of moderate terrain while carrying 30 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Technical writing competency
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Self-starter, quick learner and effective communicator
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work consecutive long days in the field under varying adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, windy, and sometimes wet)

PROJECT BIOLOGIST WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time Staff position typically works Monday - Thursday with occasional traveling and Friday/weekend work.
