General Purpose: Responsible for performing skilled development work in the areas of digital banking, custom applications, data integration, and business analytics.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Programming and support of member-facing digital banking applications/features to improve the usability and experience in online and mobile banking.
  • Programming and support of staff-facing applications and back end processing systems to integrate business processes and provide efficient workflows.
  • Development and support of data warehouses and business intelligence platforms for use in decision support, sales, compliance and productivity.
  • Research and analysis of business change opportunities to support management decisions and innovative ideas.

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead or co-lead development projects in a timely manner, adhering to the standards of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Use agile development methods if warranted. Communicate effectively with those involved.
  • Maintain and promote the highest standards of information security and privacy policies
  • Provide exceptional front-line support to end users throughout the organization.
  • Assist in training and providing work direction to less experienced programmers, computer operators, and users.
  • Further knowledge and proficiency to maintain capabilities to develop and support systems as technologies evolve.
  • Provide on-call support as needed, on a revolving schedule with other programmers.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Digital Services Manager or CIO.

Job Knowledge

  • Proficient in developing applications using C#, JavaScript, Java, or similar programming languages and an understanding of ASP.NET, API, MVC, Entity Framework and other methodologies.
  • Experience with web services (API’s, RESTful API’s, SOAP
  • Strong understanding of data security vulnerabilities in the development process. Use best practice methods to mitigate the associated risks.
  • Proficient at developing scripts in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficient with relational data warehouse modeling and ETL development.
  • Experience with an enterprise-level reporting tool (ie: SSRS, BIRT, Pentaho, Infragistics, SyncFusion)
  • Become fluent of each BHFCU business unit objectives to identify opportunities to leverage technology

  • Ability to communicate effectively with various departments to understand requirements and effect solutions.

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience)

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related study; with three years proven experience in software engineering, web/mobile development or closely related field is required. Or, seven years’ proven experience in software engineering, web/mobile development or closely related field is acceptable. Experience with a banking core and related systems, and/or, digital banking technologies is a plus.

Work Environment/Physical Activities

Job requires limited physical effort. It is primarily a desk assignment. The job calls for a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations. Ability to function in a fast-paced area. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Work creates normal fatigue daily. Work creates moderate stress during certain periods during daily routine. The job calls for a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations. The job requires a degree of attention to details.

Occasional travel to one of BHFCU’s branch locations or attendance at community events may be required.

This position has the option of a hybrid work or remote work schedule. An assessment of the hybrid/remote work environment must be completed prior to a hybrid/remote work plan being developed.
