The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Program Manager II in the Planning & Development Department! In this role, you will lead the City's policy initiatives related to climate action planning and provide guidance for high profile energy and sustainability projects and programs, including the Building Emissions Savings Ordinance (BESO) and the Climate Equity Fund programs. You will also act as Secretary to the Energy and Climate Commission and manage the Office of Energy and Sustainable Development Division, a team of eight staff members who advance the City's sustainability goals by helping Berkeley residents, businesses, and city government create a healthy and equitable urban community.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, or a related field and five (5) years in the development and implementation of programs.
Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record. Must be able to attend evening and weekend meetings.In addition to the minimum qualifications mentioned above, the ideal candidate will hold an advanced professional degree or certification in environmental policy, urban planning, public administration, or a related field; have experience supervising staff members; demonstrate experience engaging with diverse communities and developing meaningful partnerships to co-create programs; and demonstrate robust professional experience and technical expertise related to the field of environmental sustainability and climate action.
