Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Program for College Readiness (PCR) Instructor. Under the guidance of the Principal and the PCR Director, the PCR Instructor is responsible to focus on enriching all components of academic skills for incoming HC students with learning differences through classroom instruction. The PCR Instructor interfaces with teachers of PCR students to assure that these students are getting the skills and the support they need. This is an exempt, full-time, 10 month position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and Special Education, preferred.
- Experience in working with students with learning differences.
- Experience in strategy instruction is beneficial.
- Strong communication and public relations skills with ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of administration, both internal and external to the school, parents and collegiate personnel.
- Strong work ethic, energetic, enthusiastic, flexible.
- Collaborative, servant leadership-oriented management.
- Ability to manage several groups and projects simultaneously.
- Have a high regard for confidentiality.
- Ability to build relationships with teachers, students, and parents.
Possess a strong knowledge and understanding of techniques and strategies used with differentiated instruction with students with special needs. - Able to teach and communicate effectively with students of varying grade and learning ability levels.
- Able to work 1:1 with students to gain insight into and teach compensatory skills to assist students in their specific areas of deficit.
- Able to evaluate HC classroom curriculum and determine needed strategy and skill instruction for PCR students and demonstrate flexibility to changing needs. Possess strong organization and time management practices.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Accept supervision and assigned tasks with a willing spirit and possess the ability to work in a team environment.
- Have a high regard for confidentiality.
