PROGRAM EVALUATOR

Who We Are

FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Our AmeriCorps members serve alongside educators and school nutrition leaders to provide kids with nourishing meals, food education, and culturally affirming experiences with food that celebrate and nurture the whole child. Building on this direct service, FoodCorps advocates for policy change, grows networks, and develops leaders in service of every kid’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school!

How We Work

At FoodCorps we are intentional about how we do our work, and how we show up in the world. We practice being in charge of accessing, feeding, and evolving our worldviews. We connect with our history, own our flaws, evolve our biases, and deepen our understanding of ourselves. We are willing to hold ourselves and others accountable with care through courageous conversations while celebrating diversity, embracing complexity, and building belonging. We recognize that we do not have all of the answers, we create space for divergent perspectives. We are intentional and collaborative about shifting power, access, and resources to those most impacted by systemic oppression.

What We’re Looking For

FoodCorps is seeking a Program Evaluator to lead the evaluation of our leadership development efforts. This role will be responsible for evaluating the outcomes of three existing programs: the alumni engagement program, a network for BIPOC school nutrition professionals, and training of our annual AmeriCorps service member cohort. The ideal candidate will honor and trust the wisdom of the communities we serve by co-creating collaborative, participatory, and responsive approaches to measuring impact that centers equity and liberation. This individual will be responsible for managing all phases of an evaluation, from design, to data collection, to analysis, to reporting, yet in deep collaboration with FoodCorps colleagues and the communities we serve. This position will join the Systems & Evaluation Team and will report to the Director of Research and Evaluation.

This is a full-time, remote position, with U.S. travel 5-7 times per year to attend events, conferences, and to visit our programs and partners in the field.

Who You Are

You are an aspiring mixed-methods Program Evaluator who is passionate about FoodCorps’ mission. You have experience measuring social justice outcomes in public health, education, adult learning, or related fields. You believe that building power in historically excluded communities is a key strategy for achieving equity and liberation. You are fluent in both the qualitative and quantitative domains, and you have a knack for knowing which approach is right for the question at hand. You’re a collaborative project manager who can take on everything from the big picture to the small details, keeping many projects moving at one time. You are an active listener, operate from a learning orientation, and are comfortable using different approaches across multiple programmatic or stakeholder needs. You like rolling up your sleeves and digging into the details of data analysis work. You understand that, as an internal evaluator, it is essential to build long-lasting, trusting relationships with partners and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with program leads to ensure the data we collect is useful and can be incorporated in ongoing program improvement efforts.
  • Design and manage an evaluation practice that aims to undo systems of oppression, avoids harm to marginalized groups, and brings the organization closer to its anti-racism ideals.
  • Manage FoodCorps annual alumni survey, ensuring that the data we collect is responsive to the needs of our organizational goals, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders
  • Analyze annual alumni survey data, develop responsive reports, and share results internally and externally
  • Further develop and implement the evaluation plan for our network of BIPOC school nutrition professionals, including quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Implement the Service Member training and professional development evaluation plan, including the design and administration of feedback surveys, ongoing data analysis, and sharing results with internal stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with systems and evaluation colleagues, design and maintain data dashboards to visualize change over time for our power building efforts.
  • Design and lead opportunities that build a culture of data informed decision making at FoodCorps.
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research to inform the evidence base for our power building efforts and program development needs
  • Ensure discreet handling of original data and participant feedback, and maintain best practices in evaluation technology such as Qualtrics, Google Suite, Salesforce, and Tableau

Measures of Success:

By the end of year 1, the Program Evaluator will:

  • Collaborate with the Program Evaluator, Direct Service to produce quarterly reports on Service Member professional development and training outcomes for the Program Development and Training team.
  • Collaboratively develop an alumni engagement program evaluation plan that incorporates principles of power building and includes goals and metrics aligned to the organization’s theory of change and alumni program logic model.
  • Administer the PY24 annual alumni survey, analyze quantitative and qualitative results, and produce a report that can be shared with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Co-create an alumni engagement data dashboard in collaboration with the Evaluation Data Manager.
  • Collaboratively develop an evaluation plan and associated data collection tools for our BIPOC school nutrition professional network.
  • Compile all leadership development data for program year 2023-2024 into an annual impact report for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop an updated evidence base that documents critical research behind power building and leadership development in the context of racial justice, food justice, and education justice.
